So BAM! Here are the new cabinets. After approximately 13.5 hours of work with two awesome friends, these cabinets are all in place. Joe and Ben helped me all weekend, at all phases of the day (morning, afternoon and evening) to get these cabinets in place.
We started Friday at 3pm putting up drywall on the back wall behind the stove/sink/dishwasher and started with the corner wall cabinet. Things went pretty easy to start, but we hit a few bumps getting the corner and first 12" cabinet screwed together. We forged on and by Friday night we had 5 wall cabinets up in place.
Saturday morning we got back together at 8am to get the last wall cabinet on the cement wall in place. Followed by the 12" and 30" cabinets on the other wall. Then we finished up the morning by getting the corner base and the base cabinet next to the fridge in place. We stopped at noon for many reasons (soccor photo shoots, oil changes, and mine was a good friend had their baby blessed!).
Then yesterday, we started back up at 1pm and worked to get the rest of the cabinets in place, starting with the sink and working our way down the wall. Then coming back to finish up the built in fridge look with the panel, cabinet and end cap utility closet.
It was a TON of work, and I could never have gotten all this done without the help of Ben and Joe together. I don't think Joe reads my blog (but I think Jess does, so Jess - print this out for Joe). THANK YOU both so VERY VERY much for all your help.
The next step some may be wondering, I would be is to build a platform to support the shorter island cabinets and then get them in place, once they're set we can get our countertop measures and move on to finish up this project. So for the next few weeks things on the renovation front will be a little quiet. Something Jenn will enjoy I'm sure. As for the cabinets, enjoy the picture and come by to see them!
