Band Camp

So today is the first day of band camp for South River High School. I'm not there. I can't. I don't have the leave to go there very much this week. This week the kids reherse from 8-3 each day, then next week they shift the schedule and practice from 3-8. Next week I'll be albe to assist a lot more than this week. However tomorrow I'll be headed down to assign parts for the kids and get to know all the freshmen before next week.

All of this has me thinking of quite a few years ago when I used to have band camp at Towson. It was a TON of work, filled with 12 hour days and then more work. But it was a ton of fun. I miss those days. They were different than days are today, I wouldn't trade today for anything, but those are some nice memories. One such memory you can see here. After camp in 2001 we had a picnic at the end of the week for the band and this picture was taken of Jenn and I, enjoy!
