Its been a few weeks since I've posted an update on the kitchen, so after a Sunday of working in there, I figured today would be a good day for an update. I'll start with yesterday. Joe and I worked a few hours to get the microwave in place, filler boards between the end cabinets by the door, and filler boards between the island and wall. We also put the faux doors on the island endcap. You can see one of them on the side of the bookcase end.

Last weekend, Joe again helped me to get the island installed. That wasn't as hard as I thought that it could be, just took some time and good measurements. There are six cabinets that make up the island, two on each of the three sides. Only the cabinets facing into the kitchen are standard base cabinets, which means we had to create a lift of 4 1/2 inches for the other 4 cabinets. This was so they would be equal height, and also allow the creation of the toe kick area. That all turned out really nice I think.

Finally, you can also see much more orange on the wall now. It certainly works to provide a nice bit of color pop to the room. The countertop has been measured out and we should get that delivered in the next two weeks. There isn't a whole lot of work left, but we do have the backsplash and all the floors left to do. With the baby coming, I expect some of that to happen after she arrives! Enjoy!
