Today wraps up another visit of our nephews to our house. Jenn is going to be taking them back home so we can enjoy some peace and quiet in the new year. This past Monday, we all went down to Downs Park to take a look around and see what the goings on were there. I had only been there once before to play softball, never around the park. So it was nice.

The waterfront down there is really nice, and from one of the peirs you can see the Bay Bridge, which I thought was pretty cool. Hopefully Jenn and I will be able to get down there a few more times and check out some of the trails. As for this picture, its pretty obvious who it is, as for where, they are at the park, down in the sand by the water.

And as a side note, I was personally hoping for 300 posts this year, but as you can see by looking at the archive, I won't make it. Missed it by one post. But 299 isn't bad. Just gives me something to strive for next year. Enjoy!

I wanted to get a picture of our tree posted up before it was to long after Christmas. It seems like as soon as the day is over people are ready to take down the decorations and move on to the next holiday. In our house we'll wait till this weekend to dismantle the tree and put away everything. On a note of "next holiday", Jenn and I were in Wal-Mart yesterday, and I noticed that they were already heavily promoting Valentines Day. Only 45 more shopping day men! Enjoy!

Two weeks ago while downtown, I took the opportunity to take a few more harbor shots. You never know when you might end up with a good opportunity to get a neat shot. Even though a lot of whats down in the harbor has been photographed a million times, its still fun to take shots of the cool looking things. What I love about this picture is how well the green pops out of the picture from the ship. Enjoy!

This ones pretty obvious. Not to much explanation needed. Its a picture of Jenn and I at P.F Changs taken on Jenn's birthday. Today we'll be up with the in-laws celebrating Christmas again, and enjoying time with Rabbitt side of the family. Should be more good times. Enjoy!

Most people have already seen this picture, but in case you haven't let me use this picture and blog to wish everyone a Merry Christmas. From Me, Jenn and Max.

Getting Max to pose for this wasn't as hard as one might think, but it was considerably harder than I thought it would be. But definitely worth doing. Enjoy the day and celebrate with family like we will be doing. Merry Christmas!

When I took this picture something like 6 weeks ago, I thought it would be a good picture to use around this time. The holly tree that I took a picture of is in our neighborhood and I photographed it one afternoon while taking Max out for a walk. Not much else to say, so enjoy your Christmas Eve!

I don't think I shared any pictures from Jenn's actual birthday yet. So here we have a picture of Jenn opening one of the gifts that I got her (no not that awfully packaged Harry Potter book), but an actual surprise, which leads to her reaction. The gift in question was a ravens t-shirt that she seems to like. It was a lot of fun getting out downtown last weekend for her b-day and we both had a great time. Enjoy!

Thank you Amazon. Not really, that was sarcasm. I've been meaning to post this now for about a month, but I haven't gotten around to it. I ordered the book whose packaging you see here for Jenn for Christmas, only this is how it came to our house. Jenn gets the mail and packages long before I get home, so when this came last month, she knew exactly what it was.

This is AWFUL packaging for something that I wanted to be surprise. I marked it as a gift purchase, that didn't seem to matter Amazon. Just ridiculous. As a result, good for Jenn, she got the gift a few weeks earlier. I wanted to post this mostly for the ridiculous nature of the image. Enjoy!

This picture was taken up in the rain forest exhibit at the Aquarium. Since it was dark when we went, there wasn't really a whole lot to see. It is definitely a part of the place best experienced in the daytime with some sunlight. Despite this, I was able to get a least one good shot of a bird. this is a cropped image, but I love the color of the bird, and the fact that it is looking towards the camera. Enjoy!

This little place is setup between the two shopping centers at Harborplace downtown at the Inner Harbor. They were closed by the time we walked by on Friday night, but when we wandered past on Saturday they did seem to be pretty busy. I think its pretty cool how they've got all the lights setup on this place, pretty neat looking. From a photography standpoint, I was able to take this picture without a tripod which was pretty cool. Not to metion helps convey just how bright this way. Enjoy!

Many people know that I work down at South River with the percussion kids. For those that don't, now you do. However, a first here on the blog, below is a picture of me with some of the kids. This was taken back in early November at a performance the kids did. They did a percussion (drumline) featured performance and afterwords one of the parents took this picture. The kids are a lot of fun to work with, and its always good to give percussionists something purposeful to do. I can remember plenty of times sitting around in band class with nothing to do because the music was boring or didn't have parts at all. We play drumline and percussion ensemble pieces to keep them engaged and help them grow. Enjoy!

Since we went to the aquarium last Friday, I figured it would be a good opportunity to take a few new pictures, and get a shot at taking pictures of something that can be very difficult. Shooting through glass in low light situations isn't easy, but I think some of my pictures turned out pretty good. Below is one of them. I have cropped the image so that you can actually see what I was trying to photograph. Its this tiny little frog hidden among some leaves. I think its pretty cool. From a photography standpoint I was able to get the image focused on the frog and not much else, which I think adds to the image. Enjoy!

If I were to evaluate, and I will, Jenn's birthday was a good time, and a lot of fun had by all. You can see in my previous post that I updated where we ended up going to lunch since that changed. We had a great time downtown, shopping and enjoying the harbor. Its definitly a different experience when you don't have to worry about driving home late at night, or driving in early to beat the crowds. It was fun.

This picture was taken atop one of the overpasses downtown. The street is either Light St. or Calvert St. depending on how you read the map, I"m not 100% sure. Either way, these are the light trails the cars were leaving around 10:30 pm on Friday night, when the camera was left open for a 5 second exposure. Enjoy!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY Jenn! Today is Jenn's birthday. The picture below is of balloons that were given to her by her family at last weeks party. Last night we stayed downtown at the Inner Harbor after hitting up the Aquarium. Today we're gonna do some Inner Harbor browsing, and then head to lunch at Ray Lewis' Full Moon Bar-B-Que. Hopefully the place will be good and Jenn will like it, we've never been P.F Chang's another place we've never been. So again, Happy Birthday Jenn!

Last Sunday, Jenn and I headed up to her parents house for a pre-birthday birthday party for Jenn. Tomorrow is Jenn's birthday and we're going to be "away". Since the Skins/Ravens game got moved to prime time, we had an open Sunday which made a good opportunity to celebrate with her family. After steak, mashed potatoes, salad and shrimp, we had some of this wonderful cake made by her sister Christine. It was a good time, and hopefully she'll have just as much fun tomorrow as she did last week. Enjoy!

Last week Jenn and I went out and got our Christmas tree, fresh and good smelling they are. This was the first time Max had seen such a large stick in his own house! So of course he was very interested in everything that was going on with it. He was very "helpful" as I tightened the bolts that hold the tree up and in the stand. Afterwards I took this picture with him very close by. Tonight we're planning to decorate the tree, so we'll see how he does with the decorations, hopefully he'll be fine. Enjoy!

Here's a picture to hopefully help get you in the seasonal mood. This is a picture of the snow that had fallen on some of the extra branches from our Christmas tree. We had the branches laying outside to get thrown away, but before we got the chance, it snowed and made this opportunity. Enjoy!

Tuesday, December 09, 2008

So this past Saturday in Pasadena we had our first snow of the season. Not only that, but it was Max's first experience with snow as well. He went outside like usual and it didn't really seem to phase him (which is good). Later in the evening, I went out to take a few pictures with the snow, and Max was having fun jumping around in the little bit of snow on the deck. Thats where this picture comes in. Enjoy!

So last night, thanks to the generosity of Mike Gillmeister, I was able to attend the Ravens/Redskins match up. Unfortunately for me, the outcome wasn't quite what I was expected. But it was a great time, and very cold. I thought I would detail for everyone everything I had on to try and ward off the cold weather, which by the time the game ended, it was a feels like temp of 18 degrees.

To stay warm, Jenn set me up with the following: dress socks, covered with white atheletic socks, then toe warmers. Sweat pants, covered by jeans. Long sleeved t-shirt, with short-sleeved over it, followed by a thick sweatshirt, then Redskins jersey, then coat. Scarf. Two knit caps, topped off with the sweatshirt hood. Gloves with hand warmers. And I was still cold. Yet had a great time and got to be part of the record crowd of 71,438 in attendance. Enjoy!

For those didn't know, I grew up in Charles County, or Chuck county as we who lived there would sometimes refer. My point here, is to highlight the fact that someone paid to have these giant cakes constructed and placed around the county to celebrate 350 years of existence. While its a cool thing to celebrate, it just seems like such a hokey way to do it. Enjoy!

That dog of ours has a massive tongue. Its huge! Its pretty easy to see here just how big it is. He goes in to get a drink and drinks an entire bowl of water in like 30 seconds, I can only figure its because of this massive tongue he's got. As you can see here, when he pants, he lets it all hang out. Enjoy!

This picture was taken probably about 35,000 feet up in the air on our way out west this summer. I have no idea where exactly we were when I took this picture, so I can't really share much in that regard. What I can say is that I think the mountains and clouds look pretty cool from that height. Enjoy!

Today's picture is another from San Diego. This is one of the many small skyscrapers that you can see out there. I decided to post this because its a bit different from what I've been posting and I like the palm trees. Enjoy!

This picture is from the outskirts of Sea World. While there this summer, it felt like Jenn and I walked around the entire place that day. While walking, we of course came across the boundaries of the park, one of which you can see here. Thinking back to that vacation brings back good memories, something that makes big long vacations like that worthwhile. Enjoy!
